GBUdb Truncate

This blacklist has been discontinued and is no longer included in our checks.

Overview

GBUdb Truncate was part of the GBUdb (Good/Bad/Ugly database) reputation system developed by ARM Research Labs as a component of their Message Sniffer email filtering product. GBUdb maintained statistical reputation scores for IP addresses based on observed email behavior β€” Truncate specifically listed IPs that had accumulated the worst reputation scores, placing them in the most severe category.

The GBUdb system used a probabilistic model rather than binary blacklisting, with Truncate representing the threshold where statistical confidence in bad behavior was highest. The system has been discontinued.

How It Works

GBUdb tracked IP behavior across Message Sniffer's deployment network, computing probability scores for each IP based on the ratio of spam to legitimate email observed. IPs crossing the Truncate threshold β€” indicating a statistically overwhelming pattern of abusive sending β€” were listed in the Truncate zone. The system was self-calibrating based on live email traffic data.

How to Get Delisted

GBUdb and Message Sniffer have been discontinued. No removal process exists. The probabilistic reputation approach pioneered by GBUdb influenced modern reputation systems used by commercial email security providers. For current IP reputation issues, consult actively maintained blacklists and commercial reputation services.
