Overview
UCEPROTECT is a three-tier blacklist system. Level 1 is the most basic tier, listing only individual IPs that have sent spam. Compared to the escalation approach of Levels 2 and 3, Level 1 has the smallest blast radius.
UCEPROTECT is controversial in the email security community because they offer a paid express delisting service, which critics liken to a shakedown.
How It Works
UCEPROTECT operates its own spam trap network. When an IP sends email to these traps, it gets automatically listed in Level 1. Listings have a 7-day auto-expiry β if no new violations occur during this period, the listing is removed automatically.
How to Get Delisted
Two options: wait 7 days for free auto-expiry (as long as there are no new violations), or pay for express removal. Most administrators choose to wait while investigating and fixing the underlying issue.
