dnsbl.zapbl.netOperator: ZapBLIP Blacklist

This blacklist has been discontinued and is no longer included in our checks.

Overview

ZapBL was an automated blacklist built primarily on honeypot data. Honeypot-based lists work by deploying trap servers that masquerade as vulnerable or open services to attract attacker and spammer connections β€” any IP that connects to a honeypot is, by definition, behaving abusively.

ZapBL's automation-first approach allowed it to react quickly to new spam campaigns and attack sources. The service has been discontinued.

How It Works

ZapBL operated a network of honeypot servers, including mail honeypots that accepted connections from any source. IPs that connected to these traps β€” whether attempting to relay spam, probe for open relays, or send to trap addresses β€” were automatically listed. The high degree of automation meant low latency between abuse event and listing.

How to Get Delisted

ZapBL is no longer operational. No removal requests can be submitted. Honeypot listings typically indicate automated scanning or sending activity rather than intentional abuse β€” check your IP range for compromised machines or misconfigured software if you are investigating historical listings.
